I haven’t been feeling my most sparkly self lately.
A bit under the weather, sleepless nights along with early starts (ALWAYS!) and two very energetic girls under 4 has meant some days I’ve been quite flat.
Everything seems SO much harder than it is.
I don’t have my usual sparkle or shine.
I’ve chatted with friends who have been feeling much the same for one reason or another.
One friend in particular shared ‘I’ve got nothing fun to look forward to’.
With it now being Winter and a little colder and greyer – it can be even harder to feel shiny and bright, so I’ve come up with some ways to reclaim your sparkle.
Do Something FUN!
It sounds so straight forward, but we often get so being busy with the daily grind – we forget to just have fun.
A couple of my girlfriends and I went along to see Pitch Perfect 2 and we all laughed SO much – it was exactly what we all needed.
A big dose of F-U-N! (along with a hilarious dose of Fat Amy!!).
Do Something Nice for Someone
We can all get a bit caught up with how WE are feeling.
Tired / flat / overwhelmed, but if we take time to do something lovely for someone else, it can make you feel SO much brighter.
Look for ways to make someone’s day.
Smile at people.
Pop a card in the post to someone who’s having a tough time or has been unwell.
Thinking about people other than ourselves can give us a big dose of perspective.
Wear A Pop Of Colour
This has been a massive coping mechanism for me these past few years.
When I was in the depths of sleep deprivation where every day felt like an out of body experience, I felt SO much better when I would pull myself together, make myself a coffee and put some bright lipstick on.
Dance It Off!
This is always guaranteed to make me feel SOOOO much better, plus it gets the endorphins flowing!
I light a delicious candle and pop some fun music on.
We love a bit of Taylor Swift in our house, along with Disney dance offs – and who can resist a dose of beautiful Queen B?
My beautiful Nan and parents are always giving me roses from their garden, I often share snaps of them on Instagram – they put a big smile on my face, my home looks lovely with a splash of colour and I feel instantly happier!
Something about stopping to smell the roses….
Here’s to getting your sparkle on lovelies!
