I’ve recently had a lot of people ask me what they can do about the condition of their hair – whether it’s broken, dry or damaged.
When I was pregnant with Ava (almost 5 years ago now!) my hair was awful – it looked and felt like straw.
It was so frustrating and a real knock to my confidence.
Fast forward five years on and I can happily say my hair is the strongest, healthiest and shiniest it’s ever been, despite becoming naturally (and strangely!) curly and frizzy after having my two girls.
Recently I experienced an AH-MAZING in salon Shu Uemura Master Serum treatment at Maurice Meade.
Within minutes my dry, frizzy hair was shiny, soft and tangle free!
I had a chat with Luke Masters, Style Director at Maurice Meade and today he’s sharing his top five tips for strong, healthy, shiny hair.
Treatment: An in salon treatment is the quickest way to get your hair back on track to looking and feeling it’s best. I recently walked into Maurice Meade with hair that was frizzy, tangled and a bit crazy. After an in salon treatment my hair was smooth, soft and super shiny. (It’s just $25 for the treatment and massage.)
There’s also a take home Shu Uemura Instant Replenisher treatment for $115 (for 12 treatments) plus a free mini Shu Uemura paddle brush – great for taking out tangles!
You can contact your nearest Maurice Meade salon to book a treatment or speak to the in salon Shu Haigo Artist.
Before Treatment – EEEK!
After Treatment – YAY!
Home Care: Investing in good quality home care specifically for your hair is really important. You might be using products that are stripping your hair of nutrients, making it dull or weighing it down.
I’ve been using Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy and it’s made a MASSIVE difference with my hair.
Serum: Luke told me you can’t underestimate how effective serum is for your hair, and I agree.
I use this beautiful Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Serum on Ava’s long hair when it gets a bit tangled and it smooths my frizzy flyways making a blow-dry last longer. It also protects hair from the elements and makes hair super shiny and soft. (And it smells DIVINE!).
Brush: I was using a round styling brush on my hair for a really long time and I found out this was a big no no (whoops!) – it was probably why I had so much broken hair. I now have a beautiful Shu Uemura paddle brush and it’s so much gentler on my scalp and hair, perfect for my tangly tresses!
Hairdryer / Straightener: Make sure your hair dryer and straightener aren’t too hot for your hair. Five years ago I had a hairdryer I’d picked up at the supermarket and it was WAY too hot for my fragile hair.
I have a GHD hairdryer now, the settings are much cooler and it’s much gentler on my hair.
Thanks so much to Luke for sharing his hair wisdom with us today – I really hope this post has been helpful for those of you who have been experiencing issues with your hair.
