Without a doubt, Autumn 15 is all about the 70’s, taking cues from New York City, the original independent ladies of Manhattan and the recent NYFW street style looks. From oversized proportions with structured coats in layering, to bold colour, wide leg pants and fringing, why not work a 70’s inspired trend into your everyday wardrobe!
Here’s five pieces that when paired with simple basics will take your look to on-trend and effortless in no time.
WIDE LEG CULOTTES
Wide leg culottes add class to simple everyday styling. Flattering and elongating on the leg, you will wear these over and over again as they are so versatile. Pair back with denim, a simple tee and brogues or dress up with a blouse, heels and trench for added layering.
BOLD COLOUR & PATTERN
Bright block colour adds a vibrant vibe to neutral tones this season. Think red, deep plum, orange and teal blue. Wear a bright knit or a colour blocked shoe for a pop of colour.
NEUTRALS IN FOLDED TRENCH COATS
Trench coats are back in a big way this season with pastel, stone and grey toned neutrals. For our warmer climate, there are many options of light weight materials available. Layer a trench over a simple tee, knit or shirt.
Wear your best foot forward in masculine-esque shoes to complete a 70’s inspired look. From flat ankle boots to platform laceups, brogues and sneaker flats, masculine footwear adds edge in contrast to feminine flowing dresses or in theme with strong structured jackets.
Fringed jackets and skirts really make a statement or simply as a trend piece, adding a fringed bag to other 70’s inspired items will compete your look.
