Our home is our happy place. Where we play, laugh, live and work. The last few years we’ve spent a lot of time turning our apartment into a child friendly, functional space as well as freshening it up with new carpet and paint. We’ve turned little pockets of our living space into play areas. Our girls have a dolls house, kitchenette, play table and art easel all within our lounge area. I’ve added splashes of fun and colour wherever I can.
We also have lots of special and sentimental things.
A crystal cake stand from my Nana. A book that belonged to my mum. Photos of our girls. Treasured artwork.
A few years ago friends and former neighbours of ours returned from a trip to New York to find a pipe had burst in their upstairs bathroom causing a massive flood. The water damage was so significant their home was unliveable. All those years of family memories, photos – and let’s not even get started on my friends amazing shoe collection!
It was heartbreaking and devastating.
One of the first questions I asked my friend was if they had home insurance. I breathed a massive sigh of relief when she told me they did, and slowly but surely they rebuilt the damaged parts of their house and now have a beautiful family home once again. My gorgeous friend even has a bigger walk in wardrobe!
I hope you enjoyed the mini tour of our happy place!
If you’re not sure you have home insurance, now’s a good time to look into it.
