WOW! What a truly massive Telethon 2014. Bigger and better than ever with a record total of $25, 271, 542!
Telethon always been one of the most exciting and special weekends for me. When I was growing up, we would stay up late laughing at the crazy antics of our favourite TV stars, calling the phone room to donate our pocket money, hoping our name would be read out on TV.
Never could I have imagined that one day my own children would get to meet the Telethon children and make friends with them, hearing first hand about the challenges they face and how the money Telethon raises each year makes a difference to their lives. I feel so lucky and proud to live in a place where people truly care and dig deep each year.
There were so many highlights this year, Telethon children Patrick and Emily were absolute stars. What a pleasure it was to meet them and their beautiful families. Matt Fuller completed a massive 24 hour bike marathon which raised over $80, 000, George Houvardas shaved his head and countless other stars and volunteers donated their time making this years Telethon the very best yet.
Being backstage at Telethon is always so surreal. Last night the room was full of stars from Home and Away, Justice Crew, Samantha Jade, Kerry, Christine and Ryan Stokes, Julie Bishop, Mark McGowan and his family – everywhere you looked there was a well known face supporting Telethon.
A huge big special thank you to Steve Mummery and his team who work tirelessly throughout the year to make Telethon the huge success that it is, and of course I’m always very proud of my hubby for doing such a great job hosting Telethon.
Thank you SO much to everyone who so generously donates their time and money for Telethon, it’s such a magical and special weekend where all West Aussies unite to help make the future a better place for our kids.
