I’m delighted to introduce you to Ann! A special little girl who has recently joined Rafiki Mwema in Kenya, a safe house for girls who have been abused in the worst possible way.
Ann has just become our precious little sponsor girl. When I showed her photo to my 3 year old daughter Ava, she told me ‘Mumma, I want to make her a card.’
Oh my heart.
In my twenties I sponsored a beautiful young boy called Bright until he grew up into a young man.
Now that I’m a mum, I want my girls to have a sponsor child and for the last few months I’ve been following the work of Rafiki Mwema through Sarah from Castle Design. I have been really touched and amazed by how tirelessly Sarah works to raise awareness for these girls. Sarah and her team cover all administration costs so 100% of funds donated goes to supporting Rafiki Mwema.
This is a charity with a great big heart.
The other night, I saw a photo of Ann in my Instagram feed and I had a moment. I knew I just had to sponsor one of these girls, and I emailed Sarah right away.
It can be really difficult to choose which charities to support. There are so many worthy causes, and it can be overwhelming to decide where to donate hard earned money and time.
And then there are moments when you just know you have to do whatever you can to help.
It can be tricky to confidently commit to monthly sponsorship, but I was delighted to discover by very happy coincidence that Chantelle from Fat Mum Slim has just launched a ‘Letters for my Rafiki’ where you can post cards, letters and pictures along with sweet stickers for the girls.
What a beautiful idea!
So I’m joining in with Chantelle to see who else wants to send some sunshine in the form of snail mail to these precious girls, and of course if you are in position where you can sponsor one of these girls, that would be amazing too!
It’s very important not to send anything valuable as the postal system is not as trustworthy as it is here. Instead, it’s best to send things like pictures, notes, letters and stickers that can easily be shared by the girls.
Take a happy snap of your little parcel of sunshine and share on social media using the hashtag #lettersformyrafiki
The postal address is:
PO Box 4298
You can find out more info about Rafiki Mwema here and sponsoring one of these precious girls for just $50 a month here.
Here’s to making the world just that little bit brighter lovelies.
