Wow! What a massively exciting Telethon weekend we just had here in Western Australia. A record breaking $20,701,272 was raised for Princess Margaret Hospital and The Telethon Institute for Child Health Research. That is just beyond incredible. Words can’t even describe how proud I am to be a West Aussie during Telethon every year, in a state where we have a relatively small population (2.4 million) – that’s a whole lot of money for our kids!
Baz took Ava backstage during rehearsals and she she was lucky enough to meet the gorgeous Samantha Jade and Reece Mastin. (Not sure why she likes to take her shoes off everywhere she goes!!).
As always, George Houvardas and Robbie Palmer were total superstars over the Telethon weekend, their energy and enthusiasm is contagious and it’s no wonder they keep being invited back year after year.
I love watching Edwina Bartholomew on Sunrise every morning and was so excited to meet her. She’s even more gorgeous in person and was heaps of fun to chat to, telling me about Dancing With the Stars and happily sharing make up and fashion tips. Can’t wait to see who and what she’s wearing tonight!
I’m a big fan of Larry Emdur and was excited to find him just as funny and charming in real life as he is on The Morning Show.
Molly Meldrum is another massive Telethon supporter and it was so good to see him back again this year.
Blake Johnson did a brilliant job interviewing the gorgeous Telethon children Jack and Tahlia. We were treated to delicious espresso martinis backstage courtesy of Luxe Bar.
It was Channel 7 weather presenter Angela Tsun’s very first Telethon, she told me she had loads of fun crossing from the phone room and hosting the panel, and can’t wait for next year!
Incredibly, this year was my hubby’s 20th Telethon! I see how hard he works behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly and how much pride he takes in his job over the Telethon weekend. I’m so very proud of him.
Of course, this weekend wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for Telethon General Manager Steve Mummery and his team who work tirelessly throughout the year to make Telethon the huge success that it is. A great big, special shout out to him and his team for all their hard work.
Thank you SO much to everyone who so generously donates their time and money for Telethon, it’s such a magical and special weekend where all West Aussies unite to help make the future a better place for our kids.
