Winter has only just begun, but my skin already feels dull, neglected and dehydrated. That, combined with Little Miss and I coming down with horrible colds makes me feel very ordinary and the thought of popping on a bikini on the Greek islands later this week fills me with total dread.
So, on a quest for smooth, silky, hydrated skin, I decided to have a little DIY day spa at home with products I already had in my cupboard.
1) If it smells like a spa, it must be a spa!
To kick off my ‘day spa at home’ (or early evening spa in my case), I popped a few drops of lavender oil into a small bowl of hot water. Immediately my bathroom filled with the soothing scent of lavender and I started to unwind. I also lit a candle…. let the skin rescue begin!
Note: A glass of wine at this point is highly recommended
2) All Clean
I then cleansed the day away with a fab new product, Q Silica Remove Make Up and Grime cleansing gel. It smells lovely and fresh and I really like how it gently glides onto your skin to leave it feeling smooth and clean, without any of the tightness that you sometimes get with cleansers.
3) Silky Smooth
There is something so lusciously lovely about having silky, baby smooth skin. For my face I used MD Formulations Face and Body Scrub. The particles are very fine and it feels like gently polishing your skin, without being too abrasive or harsh.
4) Hydration Station
After my scrub, I applied Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque. I’ve been a fan of this product for years, it’s gentle and absorbs very easily – it’s like giving your skin a much needed drink.
After letting the masque sink in for a few minutes, I jumped into the shower to wash it off and commence my body scrub with another all time favourite product, Garnier Bodytonic Sugar Scrub. This scrub is all citrusy and zesty and really polishes your skin to get rid of dry skin and any bumpy bits (well, not all bumpy bits!), it’s also great preparation for the next very important step.
5) Holiday in a Bottle
I am totally besotted with Body Shop Polynesia Miracle Monoi Oil. It’s a heavenly holiday in a bottle and smells like frangipanis and cocktails. It can be used as a body moisturiser, in a bath or as a hair treatment. This oil is just like giving your skin a big slurp of nourishment and is absorbed quickly into your skin, leaving it feeling sensationally smooth and smelling like heaven. This bottle is SO coming with me on my trip to Greece!
My face now feeling all polished and clean and fresh, I then turned to a serum to give it a special treat. I recently tried Seven Wonders Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum. I usually use Moroccan Oil for my hair, so it seemed a tiny bit strange to be using a Moroccan Oil as a serum for my face, but I have to say that this product really delivers. It’s absorbed quickly into the skin, and after a few hours my skin felt lovely and smooth and holiday ready.
Now my skin feels less Winter dreary and more Summery sunshine seeking – bring on the Greek islands!

I was gifted the Q Silica Cleanser and Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum. This has not influenced my opinion in any way. I chose to review and blog about these products. Please see my Disclosure policy for more information.0
