The lovely Mumma in Heels had a great idea to start a weekly ‘Let’s Write’ challenge, and this week it’s ‘What do you love about Winter?’. I adore Winter and jumped at the chance to write a little something. Thanks so much for the inspiration Melinda!
My earliest memories of a really cold Winter are when we lived in Tasmania when I was about 8. My parents would drive us up to Cradle Mountain to see the snow, and I can remember having the heater turned right up in the car and feeling all snuggly, safe and warm when it was so icy cold outside.
Years later, I spent a magical white Christmas with a wonderful friend and her Aunt and Uncle in a charming old cottage in Wiltshire, England. The window panes would be frosted when we woke up in the morning and I can still hear the crackling open fire and smell the clove oranges. It was a fairytale Christmas and one that I still think of each year.
Now living in Perth, I love watching it rain outside when I’m snuggled up with my Little Miss, indulging in Winter comfort food like slow cooked casseroles, delicious soups and apple and plum crumble.
I love nothing more than to wrap myself up in a warm, soft knit, sink my feet into my ugg boots and enjoy a hot cup of tea, feeling completely content and happy to be at home, when it’s cold and wet outside.
