I’ve just returned from spending the weekend in Melbourne with my wonderful hubby. Melbourne has long been one of my favourite cities in Australia (besides Perth, of course!) and it was so good to go back for a visit.
We landed late afternoon and headed to our hotel. Mr B then took me to his favourite Italian restaurant for a delicious early dinner.
Il Solito Posto is a warm, cozy and rustic eatery tucked into a lane way just off Collins St. The menu was full of comfort food, which was perfect for a chilly winter’s eve. We kicked off with a glass of Pinot Noir and shared an amazing beetroot, rocket, goats cheese and walnut salad drizzled with a truffle vinaigrette. It was heaven. We then indulged in veal ragu and pork meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. Yummy yum.
A Melbourne morning
I had a big day of shopping planned for the next day and Zara was my first stop, where it was early enough not to be too crazy busy. I loaded up with some top picks and was so happy with how many items worked. Happy days.
Zara – I loved the floral jacket, but it didn’t fit!
My next stop was David Jones and Myer, which are both absolutely amazing after their recent renovations. You could seriously spend the whole day wandering the floors and discovering great buys.
After a leisurely day shopping, my hubby and I headed to Longrain for dinner. I was totally in the mood for Thai, and what a fun spot to dine in! A DJ was playing fantastic tunes and we enjoyed some yummy champagne and deliciously spicy, fragrant food.
After a pancake breakfast, it was time to pack up and head home, I was missing my Little Miss so badly and had resisted the overwhelming urge to hug every little person that I saw the entire weekend.
The fluffiest, yummiest pancakes ever!
It was so lovely to visit Melbourne again, but it was even better to be heading home to see my beautiful little girl.
