I made those confetti cookies for Ava’s first birthday party a few years ago and they were a big hit with both the kids and adults. I thought I’d make them again, this time in love heart shapes to celebrate Valentines Day!
My hubby and I have never made grand gestures on Valentines Day. We prefer to exchange cards with some heartfelt words and that’s what I cherish above anything else. Just to be told that I am loved.
These love heart cookies will make a special little treat for all of us for Valentines Day and Ava will take one to kindy in her lunch box.
This recipe is adapted from Taste
185 grams butter
3/4 cup caster sugar (I used half a cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup 100s and 1000s
Preheat oven to 180 degrees / 160 degrees fan forced. Line two trays with baking paper.
Using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and vanilla extract until pale and creamy. Add egg, beat until combined. Sift flour over butter mixture and add 100’s and 1000’s, use a wooden spoon to combine.
Place cookies 4cm apart on prepared trays. Bake for 10-12 minutes until light golden. For even colouring, swap trays halfway through cooking time. If dough gets a little soft after rolling, place in fridge until firm enough to handle. If rolling dough, form dough into a disc. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before rolling.
Happy Valentines Day lovelies!
