Emmy is a Channel 7 news presenter and journalist in Perth. Originally from Queensland, Emmy is mum to Allegra, 10 months. I took five to find out how Emmy manages her busy life with motherhood.
How do you juggle your busy career with being a mum?
I have a wonderful husband who is at home looking after Allegra while I’m working. We prioritise our time and make it work. I’ve given up a few things that I would usually do, like exercising in the morning. Instead I get up early to spend time with Allegra before I head to work and then I’m home in time for dinner and cuddles.
You always look so glamorous and well groomed on TV, what are your style secrets?
(Emmy laughs!) There is a really good make up and hair stylist at Channel 7, I go into work with no make up on and my hair not done and they work their magic. We even have an amazing lady who helps us with our outfits for the news.
How has motherhood changed you as a person?
I’m such a big softy now! There are some stories that I find really difficult to do, especially if they involve children or parents being injured or hurt. When this happens, I go home and hug Allegra a little tighter and it makes me realise how precious every moment with her is.
What are some of your favourite stores?
With being so busy, I do most of my shopping online for convenience, I really like Shopbop, but I seem to spend most of my time looking at all the amazing baby clothes and products online in stores like Funky Kids, Bambini Pronto and Eeni Meeni Mini Moh. I enjoy finding great bargains and will often listen out for new online stores.
